29 March 2026 · Planica, Slovenia

As part of the ESA-supported Digital Twin Slovenia (DTSI) project, we co-organised and led the event “Digital Twin of Slovenia – First Insight” in Planica.

The event provided a first insight into the project results and highlighted the importance of Digital Twin Slovenia at both national and operational levels. Discussions focused on how Earth Observation, geospatial data and Digital Twin technologies can support preparedness, response and action in the event of natural disasters, as well as the further development of Slovenia’s space sector.

The event brought together key national stakeholders, project partners and representatives of the European Space Agency (ESA).

Digital Twin of Slovenia – First Insight

Digital Twin Slovenia connects Earth Observation (EO), national geospatial data, observations and advanced modelling to support better-informed decisions.

The project focuses particularly on water resources and disaster risk management, including floods and landslides. Its objective is to transform Earth Observation capabilities into practical information and services that can strengthen preparedness for natural hazards, while also supporting climate adaptation and the green transition..

DTSI Core

The technological foundation of Digital Twin Slovenia.

DTSI Core provides the shared technological environment for:

  • integration of Earth Observation and geospatial data;
  • data repository and API infrastructure;
  • data management, analytics, modelling and simulation;
  • interactive visualisation of results;
  • integration with European ecosystems including Destination Earth, CDSE and GEP.

DTSI Applications

Transforming data and models into interactive scenarios.

DTSI Applications demonstrate how Digital Twin capabilities can support real-world challenges, including:

  • flood-risk and response scenarios;
  • flood–landslide interactions;
  • water dynamics and water-resource management;
  • impacts on land use and infrastructure;
  • climate adaptation and resilience.
