Digital Twin for Slovenia
Core Precursor & Applications

Digital Twin for Slovenia (DTSI-P) provides a Digital Twin Precursor core platform and a portfolio of demonstration applications that transform advanced geospatial data and analytics into decision-ready insights. The project focuses on water resources and disaster risk management, particularly floods and landslides, while supporting climate adaptation and the green transition through integrated, data-driven services.

A key priority for both DTSI-P Core and DTSI-P Apps is the high-quality presentation of results as interactive stories and scenarios, ensuring that outcomes are not limited to technical reports but become intuitive, explorable narratives. These narratives enable stakeholders to understand impacts, compare options, and test “what-if” situations across space and time.

DTSI-P Core – Digital Twin Precursor Platform

DTSI-P Core provides a federated, scalable foundation for:

  • integrating EO and non-EO data (satellite, in situ, IoT/operational sources, model outputs),

  • data repository infrastructure and APIs for access, reuse and interoperability,

  • data management and visualisation to support analytics, modelling and simulation,

  • integration with European services and ecosystems (e.g. DestinE, Geohazards TEP, CDSE),

  • open, standards-based components to ensure long-term sustainability and extensibility.

DTSI-P Apps – Interactive Stories and Scenario Demonstrators

DTSI-P Apps demonstrate the Core’s capabilities through concrete, user-focused applications based on interactive storytelling. These applications allow users to explore:

  • flood risk and response scenarios (hydrological conditions, riverand lake levels, impacts on land use and infrastructure),

  • floodand landslide risk and mitigation scenarios (situation awareness, short-term impact predictions, risk reduction options),

  • climate adaptation and green transition scenarios (evidence for planning, resilience measures, infrastructure optimisation).

Each app is designed to transform complex analytics into clear narratives with interactive exploration– layer switching, time sliders, scenario comparison, and impact views– supporting civil protection, public authorities, planners, and domain experts.
